Spaghetti marshmallow challenge week 7

Hello Everyone 

Today we did the spaghetti marshmallow challenge

 we had to get teamwork and make the tallest structure 

with a marshmallow on the top we had to have a lot of teamwork 

and work together. What I liked it the 

most is you could about it with some people 

talk over.To make it we had 20 pieces of dry spaghetti ,marshmallows,

 a metre of tape, a metre of string.

We were lucky enough to have the science Roadshow 

come to our school and present all their cool science 

experiments there was so many different things and I

 loved the most going onto the nail bed I thought it would be scary

be scary but it really wasn't.

Hello Everyone

Yesterday I had zones sport at Te Puna Wai. It was very very fun! The event that I went there for was
discus. I had been practicing and I was quite prepared for it. I was the last event of the day (I had to sit
wait for my event for 4 hours!).

I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to go.

When we were lining up I was sort of nervous but I wasn't too bad

because I had another person from my school which was good. It would be

worse if I was just alone. My first throw was my best one. I

thought I did quite well but then when they read

out my name for second place I was really shocked but very happy.

I am so proud of myself and all my friends did so well.

Everybody was so great and it was really fun  cheering on

everybody from our school .

What I loved about this term I liked the production it was very fun
to learn our dances with our groups with all our friends. This term
I also love to do training for athletics. I have loved learning about
the Maori myths and legends with a student teacher Miss Jamieson .
My favourite but we're doing Maori myths and legends with you got to

do art piece on and I was with Emelia and we did a picture of maui and the sun

I am most looking forward to doing sprints and shotput. Next term I'm really looking forward to swimming we do it at wharenui and it was really fun. 

Weeks 1-7 update 30th of August

Hello everyone

In the past few weeks we had had some really exciting events that have happened and it's been very busy.

In week 3 we had a market day that we were looking forward to. My partner Sam and I we were selling slime and popcorn. We sold out of 35 slimes in the first 5 minutes. We were very happy about that. We also sold out of all our popcorn there were two different flavours - there was buttered popcorn and sweet and salty . 

The last 2 weeks we have been practising for our production. We had to choose between the two groups and then we started on our dance. I am slowly starting to get it and it is looking good.Our group is lucky because our song isn't too hard to sing.

This lunch time we're going to be having a planking competition on the field. Pera and Magdalene are going to do it And Abby and I are going to be handing them water when they needed to help him and make dueling Pera  really want to WIN.

Sparkly update week 6

Hello everyone

Today is sparkle day at school, so we are dressing up in sparkly clothes and bright colours. It is all about being kind and leaving a sparkle wherever you go which means to be caring and nice to people.

Yesterday we didn't do winter sport because my team had a bye so we played another team

at our school that had a bye so we versed them but they were a lot older than us and knew

more about it so they be us but it was

alright. The next game we played the team I was in won.

We were playing netball and it is one of my favourite games.

Hello

This week we have been doing a new Inquiry in Topic because we are learning about how to use our money wisely. We are in groups and we got to choose what we wanted to do.The group I am in is going to make slime and popcorn. I hope some people buy the slime and popcorn. But next week we need to do a practice on the slime.

We were lucky to have Middleton Grange Orchestra come to our school on Wednesday. They played us all different songs and then the jazz band came to play us a couple well  songs. They played us for songs for 45 minutes. They told us some things about the instruments and how they are used.

The past three weeks we have been

creating things to make

people more aware of Eels and

how they look and

what you can feed them. Some

people have been making homes for them.

My group made a really

big house using a pallet, some

pipes, and string and

paint. I really enjoyed learning

more about Eels like where

they live, what they eat, what they do during

the daytime and

how they catch their prey

and much more.

We are going to put our tuna house into

the stream next to Maddie's house.

Pink shirt day

This Friday at school we have Pink Shirt Day. It's a day where we speak out stand together and try and stop bullying. Girls and boys across the world we are wearing pink tops and things to try and get the word out about stopping bullying.

                                     
                                                                
Winter sport

Yesterday we had our first game of winter sport for the season we played down at Hagley park in Christchurch it was so cold. it was really fun I was playing netball with my friends. it was so much fun at the end of it when we had finished we were walking back to the bus it started pouring with rain and we got so wet. The other team beat us but we still had fun I can't wait to do it next week.

Fish in a tree

It's cool! The teacher's been reading us this new book called Fish in a Tree. Its really cool. We have activities to do about it. Sometimes I get to draw pictures and think what it would be like and put herself in the  characters place. It's about a girl with dyslexia who can't read full stop and she's too afraid to tell anyone that she can't. She's got a new teacher Mr Daniels who she really likes. Mr Daniels know something is wrong but he doesn't quite know. some days we  go onto Twitter And we answer questions about the book in the chapters that we've been reading.

Welcome to term 2

On Wednesday we had a cross country. I was nervous but excited at the same time. We had to run 2K this year and last year we only had to run one and a half Ks I tried my very best !!!!!!! I cheered on all my friends

Yesterday we had a sports tournament. I really enjoyed playing with my friends and I was playing netball.  we won most of our games.

One of the teams we were playing the coach was very  strict and tough but she wasn't tough on her teem she was only tough on our team.

Hello everyone


We've done some really awesome things this term and learnt lots of cool things. One of the things we did was a Caritas fun day. We use boxes and made heaps of huts.

We played in the huts and we had rice for lunch. We wanted to see what it was like in South Sudan in their country.

We played a new sport this year it was korfball. We play it with a friend so it makes it really interesting and fun to play. I really enjoyed playing it because it taught me and a new sport that I really like. It I like how you couldn't shoot if someone was guarding you you had to pass to someone that was free who wasn't being guarded.

There's a boy in our class called Blake. He left school this term on Wednesday 13th of April. We gave him a farewell surprise party room in room 5 where we brought along food. We took him outside to go look for a missing hat that someone had hid at morning tea and when he came back we were all hiding and we jumped out and said surprise! He was so happy! It was  fun to see his face he was so surprised

Next term I am looking forward to our new maths programme.

Caritas challenge day

Yesterday we did a fundraiser for Caritas which is a company that does things for people in South Sudan. We brought a gold coin. We went outside onto the field and made huts out of cardboard.  I like that because we could do it with our friends and make a really cool hut once when we were making out huts. The teachers made cold rice for us so we had some rice and ate it with our hands. It was hard to make the houses because the wind kept blowing them over but we kept on trying and finally our houses were complete and looking really cool.

       Hello, this week we have been learning to play Korfball.  The rules of Korfball are You are not allowed to step if you are holding the ball but you are allowed to pivot and you aren't allowed to shoot a goal if their is someone defening you. The net are very high so it is hard to shoot.

Today it was so fun .. we had another visitor into our school to talk to us about Eels! He is a scientist who was really smart. I learnt…

• NZ eels swim to Tonga to have their babies. After they have their babies, they die.
• Did you know that female eels lay 7-20 million eggs at a time?
• If eels can't eat their prey because they can't get through the skin, they grab on with their teeth and spin themselves around 10 times a second so they can drop something off their prey for someone.
• And if someone is coming in the water or creature they hide and then they jump out and grab them. They can feel the water moving when something coming so they know.
• Eels eat  animals whole and they can see what they eat.
• You can tell how old they are by taking out half of the eels ear and counting the rings on the ear bone. Sadly you can only do this if the eel is dead.

I really enjoyed learning heaps more things today I can't wait to learn more about heels in the future is a really cool to learn things about.

SOUTH SUDAN LEARNING

Today Phil and Janet, two missionaries in South Sudan came to visit us. We were so excited! They
were really nice and they taught us heaps. Here are some of the things I learnt today ...

1…In the daytime it can get up to 40 degrees and at night it is still hot (33 degrees!) but not as hot as in
the daytime with the sun.

2…It's too dangerous to drive on the roads so every where they have to travel to they have to either go
on dirt tracks or use aeroplanes. Aeroplanes - there is one smaller one and 4 medium sized ones but
not ones we would get in big cities like LA. 12 people can fit on the aeroplanes.

3… The homes are made out of bamboo framing and have got mud walls or bamboo floors and pets to
keep the place nice and cool.

4…  there are 65 tribes and to tell what tribe that they are, they make cuts in their faces/on their
againforeheads and then let them heal, then cut them again and let them heal, self and they do it n again and again
they have heaps of scars on their body so it can tell what tribe  you're in.

5… 100 South Sudan pounds is worth $30 in New Zealand isn't that just crazy.

I have learnt so many awesome things today and it's been such an honour to have them here to tell us
more about South Sudan these facts and even half the things that I know this heaps more to learn
about South Sudan and I can't wait. What was cool was if we knew the.

answer to question we got one of the 2015 South Sudan coins.

LEANZ web Conferences

Hello everyone,

today we did a live chat with LEARNZ about water here are some things we lot.

1... ground water will never runs out.
2...you can turn sea water into drinkable water.
3..you have to ask the Christchurch City Council if you can use huge amounts of the water.
I really enjoyed  learning some new things about our water. Lots of people were asking questions that we learnt things off.

Today I went to my first ever zones swimming event.  It was really fun.  In my backstroke  heat I came 4th  and in the backstroke finals I came 2nd.  Backstroke was really fun.  With my freestyle I came 2nd in the heats and 2nd in the finals.  My favourite race of the day was the year 5 relay.  The team I was in came FIRST.  I had a really fun day at Jellie park.  Bye.

Global play day 15 February

Last week on Friday we did Global play day.  I did lego and arts and crafts. I used a box and made a kite.
I went down the slide with my kite.
It was the best day ever!
